Saving our Members Money is where our Purchasing Partners play a key role. They offer exclusive discounts to WBBA members with high quality service and experience in the life sciences industry. Many of our members utilizing our Partners realize savings far exceeding their membership dues. Member purchases made with our Partners also help to directly support the WBBA, with an average of 16% of WBBA's annual budget coming from Purchasing Partner revenue shares. As an organization entirely supported by its members, this contribution is significant and enables the WBBA to continue offering high quality programming, events and commercialization efforts.
The combination of membership dues, events and sponsorships results in nearly 85% of WBBA's total revenue. In 2012, WBBA members purchased more than $35 million in healthcare benefits, lab equipment and office supplies through the WBBA Purchasing Program, saving them over $5 million. Additionally, we distributed more than $800-thousand in Labors & Industries (L&I) rebates through our RETRO program. This value provides our members with significant savings on essential business operations.
