WBBA offers pro bono consultation services to all life science members as well as a one-time consultation for future members. Our team provides invaluable guidance, feedback and coaching based on industry expertise and decades of experience. Our consultant, Chris Porter, Ph.D., has over 35 years of experience in the medical device and biotech industry in both major corporations (3M, Johnson & Johnson, and Pfizer) and early stage medical companies. He is a serial entrepreneur with 42 patents and he has been influential in introducing over 35 medical products.
Our consultation program can help with a broad variety of issues facing the life sciences community, including: company formation, intellectual property, regulatory affairs, reimbursement, merger and acquisition strategy, dilutive and non-dilutive funding, pitch practice, business plan review, technology transfer, product design, manufacturing, accounting/finance, and management.

We administered a follow up survey to the companies that we have seen for consulting since 2009. Of the respondents, 80% are still in operation, nearly 60% have hired full time equivalents (over 300) and raised money (~$200M), and almost 30% have achieved revenue.
To date, the consulting program has supported over 230 life science startups as they sought advice on matters related to all aspects of early stage company develop. The companies and research groups seen have been diverse, spanning multiple industries, IP sources and stages.
